Monday June 1st #LaughterSpreadsFaster

Morning!

We’re into Phase One of easing Lockdown, but not taking any chances Doug and Bob got fired into space to socially distance themselves as far away as possible at the weekend.

They’re staying there for between 1 and 4 months, (NASA hasn’t made up its mind yet) and will no doubt get all the ‘new guy’ jobs like taking out the rubbish or going to the bottle bank.

Meanwhile, back on earth, if only we could go to the bottle bank or tip. Fairly soon where I live, the local tip is reopening by appointment only, and only for essential refuse dumping. In other words, nothing from your freshly cleaned out spare room, garage or garden.

Anyone want to go halfies on a skip?

I’ll take it for the first three days, then you can come round and pick it up, and the skip guys can collect it from you. Deal?

Get back to me.

The Useful

As we start to slowly emerge, almost post hibernation-like from our homes, but social distancing continues, wearing masks in confined spaces will become ever more important.

This is a great hack if you have glasses.

And look out for a few of these soon too. The Highcycle. Or Penny Farthing as they called it in Victorian times.

Speaking of hacks, if you’re at the stage where you’re welcoming another household round to your garden (no more than 8, keep your social distance) some of these may come in handy too.

Nobody likes creepy crawlies near their drink.

And if you’re still struggling to keep the kids entertained in their down time, this Dad has a few handy helpers.

He’s started a home olympics for his five kids.

World Of The Weird

Slightly odd, but lovely.

If that kid grows up to be a pirate, don’t dare say you weren’t warned.

Things That Make You Go Awwwwww

This is Finley. He’s just set a new World Record for the most tennis balls in his mouth at once.

Things We’ve Discovered In Lockdown

In the quieter environment around them, animals have become more curious and adventurous, like these foxes pictured in Aberdeen.

That being said, I do always think foxes are slightly braver anyway. I actually saw one crossing the road at a set of traffic lights. Not a word of a lie. I mean, it didn’t push the button or wait for the lights to change, but it was slap-bang in the centre of town in the early evening.

It’s time for The Funnies.

Today’s News In Brief

Let’s play out with some music, and a bit of a bumper batch.

Take That played a special At Home Concert with Meerkat Music on Friday.

Dolly Parton’s written a Lockdown themed song.

And struggling slightly more with modern technology than you feel he possibly should, Marti Pellow’s been recording some Lockdown Sessions too.

Thanks for reading.

Stay safe x

I've been on the radio for almost 30 years (not continuously!) and am a media bloke entrenched in one of the loveliest parts of the world. I present radio shows for Global on Smooth Radio, run an audio media company - Mellis Media - and I also work for Aberdeen Football Club and write for a number of local media outlets. But that's work. My life and passions revolve around my wife, Lynne, and our kids, Joshua and Gracie. I’m a dog father to Ernie.
