Happy Friday my Directors Of The Bored,
Today marks 21 years since I won the lottery and married the most beautiful girl in the world and my best friend. In some States, that’s illegal, but Utah’s never really been all that bothered about numbers. In fact they mostly encourage you to take on a few.

That’ll be the ‘wrong time for a joke’ alarm going off right there.
She knows I love her. I know I’m punching, and that’s why a day of pampering awaits and I need to get to it pronto by rattling through today’s blog.
Not that I want you feeling second best.

There it goes again. Moving on….
After writing a post about #BlackLivesMatter I want to keep the momentum going on this, and an incredibly large part of it from a white person’s point of view, is education.
We need, for instance, to understand the same thing happening to a white person and a black person in the same environment does not invoke the same response or emotion in both.
As a white person, in a volatile situation, the arrival of the police calms me and makes me believe whatever is happening is about to be resolved.
For a person of colour in that same moment, the police turn up, and they automatically feel panic because their learnings from life lead them to believe they’ll be the suspect, and treated accordingly.
Here are a few items I’ve seen online this past 24 hours which I think will benefit us all.
Read | Watch | Learn | Change.
Here’s today’s blog.
People. Are. Amazing.
This section is (usually) all about how every day people have undertaken extraordinary acts during the pandemic, simply to make the lives of others better, through those selfless actions. Today, because it’s my blog and my rules, I want to diversify sightly to focus on someone else locally who’s shown that level of commitment, spirit and devotion for years to achieve some remarkable outcomes in that time, and even now, against the odds, she battles.
The Useful
As we tip-toe out of Lockdown the world’s population is slowly realising in order to function and potentially prosper, things have to change. I don’t think there’s another industry which feels that fact more acutely than Hospitality.
Every day, a new attempt to effectively accommodate social distancing and trade at the same time. Could this be a widespread ‘new normal’ look?

To be frank, I know people who could use these as etiquette saving splash guards whether there’s a pandemic sweeping the world or not, and I fear I may be one of them.
It’s like something from The Jetsons, isn’t it?
Make sure you don’t over eat because after your meal you have to be shot through those pods to get back home.
I offer up the next piece of advice so you can try it /or check if it’s being done to you.
The story is of a man who’s just discovered his brother’s ex, secretly installed a third viewer profile on their Netflix account and has been watching everything she wants from it at her own home for free, even though she and her boyfriend (this guy’s brother) split up MONTHS ago!
Here’s the full story.

Having trouble sleeping since the Coronavirus pandemic started? There’s a lot going on, and possibly a lot troubling you. That can play havoc on your sleep pattern, but did you know the solution is often to sleep less? It’s all about fixing your sleep drive apparently.

Finally for today in The Useful, this could be really helpful for your kids, because they’re always picking things up from the vibes you give off. Couple that with the media reporting on literally one story since the pandemic started, and you’ve got a potentially terrified child who finds it difficult to express why exactly, and articulate what that fear is.
I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a study researching into why children are so fond of making forts or castles out of old boxes or furniture and cushions. The reason, I suppose, is not entirely unexpected. Most often it’s to give them a safe space when they’re concerned about something. I say ‘most often’ because I don’t think that was the driving factor behind my kids building one to fire every Nerf Gun Dart known to man directly between my eyeballs from their safe vantage point behind a sofa-dominated castle.
But often it’s the case a fort is erected to give them somewhere safe to visit where they take their favourite things to comfort them further, and if they’re doing that now, it should be encouraged.
We try to help of course by sitting them down and explaining more, but in much the same way they’ll eat something scraped up off the floor and placed in a fast food bag before something you’ve sweated buckets over in your own kitchen, they’ll take on board info from a complete stranger they’ve never actually met, but feel they already know, which is why the NSPCC have organised the latest in their series of special online school assemblies to be presented by Ant’n’Dec and David Williams.
If you want to watch, search ‘NSPCC’ on Facebook, or click here.
It’s time for The Funnies
First, here’s my Janey Board.

Today’s News In Brief

Let’s play out with some music.
I mentioned at the beginning of today’s blog it was my wedding anniversary. These songs are about the two best things to be created from it.
Thanks for reading.
Stay safe x
