Good Morning my Directors Of The Bored and welcome to Blog 51!
No, it’s of no real significance to me either, but WordPress sent me a nice badge icon so I thought I’d mention it.
Hope you had a good weekend. We bought stuff for the garden online.
They know we’re coming, don’t they. They see us approaching.
God alone knows how long I’m going to be stuck in Pergola Purgatory, but it’s coming, around the same time as my new youtube show Mellis’s Trellises.
Youtube shows is where we start today, as the excellent Some Good News comes to an end for now.
If you’ve ever felt down during Lockdown, I truly urge you to give yourself a break, and sit down and watch these.
You’ll go through every emotion known to man. I’m not articulate enough to do them justice with my description, just go watch.
If I’d made a video, not a blog, it’s exactly what I’d have wanted to do.
And the last one (for now) doesn’t disappoint either.
Look out for the part where John just about holds it together. (You’ll see it, trust me)
Great job John. Hats off.
People Are Amazing
The strangest thing is, if you’d taken this show and transferred it straight to TV in normal times, I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t have worked.
It wouldn’t have cut through the noise of normal life.
It came along where it was needed, and brought the stuff the world was missing at the time – hope and joy.
The Useful
If I asked a sample group “What do you miss most about Lockdown?”, I’m fairly certain a large proportion would say ‘hugging friends and family we can’t be with right now.’
Presenting – The Cuddle Curtain.
Obviously, this has been a case of ‘great minds think alike’, worldwide.
What’s the Nelson Mandela quote? “It always seems impossible until it is done”

This one was made out of a shower curtain by a ten-year-old girl so she could hug her grandparents.
This next story could so easily have been installed in World Of The Weird, but it’s Monday, I’m feeling benevolent and I know at least one family member who would drag us to this restaurant specifically for the chance to dine next to a cuddly soft-toy panda.
That’s how this restaurant in Thailand is getting round the Social Distancing directive – by placing the pandas in the empty seats so dining isn’t such a lonely experience.
As I said, it could very easily have made it into World Of The Weird, but then what would I have done with the German cafe which has introduced Swimming Noodle Hats?

Another attempt to simplify Social Distancing etiquette – ‘touch my noodle and you’re too close.’
Finally today in The Useful, literally save this for a rainy Lockdown day. IKEA have released instructions on how to build 6 home furniture forts.

World Of The Weird
This section is bursting at the seams today. Looks like a lot of bampots have peaked at the same time.
Let’s start with the fact in this topsy-turvy Lockdown world, ducks now chase dogs.
This Resistance Challenge did NOT go as expected.
Now, I know being cooped up has you climbing the walls, but these guys are taking things to the extreme.

Climbers all over the world are so fed up they’re building climbing walls wherever they can around the house.
This family have been treating their stairwell to the Blue Peter time capsule treatment by leaving a Coronavirus story on the stairs.

The actual full set of stairs reads “When Covid-19 took over, we stayed home and enjoyed time together. Lockdown 23/3/20”
They’ve got paint and glitter and pretty much everything they could muster for an art project on there in the hope that one day someone will find it, look back at the period and remember it, and not simply curse it to the high heavens that it’s just one more job to do before they get a chance to sand back and re-varnish the stairs.
I’ve said it before, but just because something makes it into the World Of The Weird section doesn’t mean we don’t like it – this next guy, for instance, deserves a round of applause for making the effort to dress up in the background of every one of his wife’s work Zoom calls so far.
It started relatively understated.

And progressed.

It’s time for The Funnies
You’ll definitely need sound on for this first one. Having lived in rental properties in the past, it’s eerie how similar some of this is to me.
Right, where’s my Janey board?

Today’s News In Brief.

Let’s play out with a song, and never a stranger trio.
Thanks for reading.
Stay safe x
