Friday May 15th #LaughterSpreadsFaster

Morning,

You know, despite however many weeks of lockdown, (7, is it?), I still enjoy a Friday and the prospect of the weekend.

I hope you’re as well as can be expected given the circumstances and feeling much the same way.

One thing I will guarantee, stick with this read for the next few minutes and you’ll feel better about life on the way out than you did on the way in. You’ll even have a giggle.

That’s why I’m here. To prove that humour travels quicker around the world and will last for longer than Coronavirus ever can.

Remember, got a joke for us, a funny video, anything like that – get in touch through our contact page, or use my favourite email address for us:

Let’s get started.

People Are Amazing

I rarely explain this section, (Do I really need to?), but just to recap, some folk go the extra mile during Lockdown. Here, we highlight them. Like this guy.

The Useful

If you’re one of the WFH brigade, (Yes, the appeal of the concept has worn off so much we can’t even be bothered to type the three complete words anymore.) and you’ve lost your mojo for it, here’s a really good bit on how to reclaim it and get back on top feeling good again.

Next, everywhere I look, folk are talking about the show ‘Normal People’ on BBC 3 and BBC iplayer . If you’re one of them, you’ll love this.

Finally for today in The Useful, what do you get if you cross a business that’s exploded during Lockdown, the thing you miss most – socialising with your friends and family, and that thing you swore you would do in Lockdown but haven’t started yet?

That’s right, it’s Zoom Disco Yoga.

I’m not even kidding. It’s a thing. Maybe your thing.

World Of The Weird

Let’s be honest, if Zoom Disco Yoga can’t make it into World Of The Weird, you know you’ve got something pretty strange coming up. This video has been about long enough to inspire rip offs. You’ve probably seen it, but for those who haven’t, or you just want to enjoy it again, take a look, and try to spot some of the famous faces involved. Also, just because it’s a little weird, doesn’t mean it’s not cool!

Here’s someone who decided to close her garden centre a couple of days before she was officially told to, and used those two days to transport all 12,000 of her plants home, where she moved her business online.

Things That Make You Go Awwwwww

Watch this and marvel as you hear your own mother’s voice in your head screaming, “DON’T GO NEAR THAT SWAN, THEY CAN BREAK YOUR ARM WITH A WING”

And last for today in this section, Britain’s oldest hairdresser who can’t wait to get back to work to see her ‘ladies’ again.

Margaret is 90, opened her hair salon in 1956, and up until Lockdown, had only ever been closed for two days, back in 1958, when she gave birth to her son.

Things We’ve Discovered In Lockdown

I’ll be honest, this bit was supposed to be a little celebration of the knowledge we’ve stumbled across during a period of having large blocks of time to fill with ….something.

Today, however, we present the literal translation of the topic, as more and more people are finally getting round to that clear-out they’d been promising they’d undertake at some point in the Lockdown.

So here are, some things we’ve discovered in Lockdown.

This person found a catering sized tin of Deluxe Ox Tongue which had been in his mother’s fridge since 1971!

Another Mum’s cupboard produced this beauty, Best Before some period in 1976.

If you’re starting to be a little bit sick inside your own mouth, I’ll leave the rest of the finds here, but don’t feel obliged to look at them.

It’s time for The Funnies

Today’s News In Brief

Let’s finish with some music

One of those you may have found yourself looking out on a rainy Lockdown day…

Thanks for reading.

Enjoy the weekend.

Stay safe x
