Friday April 24th #LaughterSpreadsFaster

It’s another beautiful day outside my window right now – hope it’s the same with you.

Friday always seems to bring out the bumper editions, I’m not entirely sure why, but let’s not knock it, and instead focus on the fact there are LOADS of funnies below to enjoy.

Let’s get stuck right in.

First, to all those who’ve been critical of the Beeb’s efforts last night on ‘The Big Night In’, saying stuff like, “I dunno why they bothered… it wasn’t even funny”, I may be tempted to partially agree. However, bear in mind, they’ve had comparatively little time to throw things together in the most unusual of circumstances, and I think the reason they bothered was to raise the almost 30 million quid they did on the night.

So maybe cut them some slack, aye?

There. Glad I got that off my chest.

Now, just because it doesn’t really fit anywhere else in the blog, I quite liked this.

I have to begin today with World Of The Weird. Just wait for our correspondent from Jacksonville, Florida.

Wow.

But before that, let’s focus on the changing behaviour of animals during Lockdown. I’ve long been baffled by certain cat owners’ insistence their cat is an indoor cat.

Surely that’s only because you don’t let it out?

As I understand it, they grow used to being kept indoors over a period of time.

I’m going to go ahead and suggest this example was a) not an indoor cat before quarantine, and b) not yet accustomed to the behaviour expected of an indoor cat.

Don’t forget dogs are suffering too right now. For the first time in their comparatively short lives, all the hoomans they own and yearn for in an average day, are all at home in the one place, and Dog is worried because Dog is afraid it’ll all end at some point, and from there it simply can’t get better. I reckon that’s what my Ernie thinks. That’s why dogs rule.

Bear in mind, if you’re going to be at home with Dog, Dog will demand your usual attention, and complete the attached report re-evaluating all the KPIs if that’s what’s necessary to achieve it.

OK, as promised, strap in because here comes our Jacksonville, Florida correspondent on why Coronavirus will not affect residents there in any way. It’s like a Stephen King Horror, and you’ll still need to watch it twice at least before you believe it. Annnnnnd, run VT.

Take this next bit as a little treat, because unless we suddenly start throwing out multiple similar examples this will be a one-off feature called, ‘Things We’ve Learned In Lockdown’. Actually, ‘Lockdown Lessons‘ has a better ring to it hasn’t it, but, like I say, it’s a one-off, so let’s not fuss.

People Are Amazing

My ten year old has filled a fair amount of Lockdown making Tik-Toks, but this is one of Tik-Tok’s older contributors, happy to do so while his Ticker’s still Tocking.

And staying within the Care Home sector for a moment, a new Karaoke machine has arrived at this one. Anything to keep the residents entertained, eh. Talk about a captive audience.

Finally, for this section today – this is 6 year old Freya. She posted a note to all her neighbours asking them to join her at Leathen Care Home to clap for carers. Bramble Place, Portlethen did not disappoint. Freya couldn’t believe how many came along as she and just a couple of others have been there previous weeks.

I tell you this every day – People Are Amazing. They simply require the right set of circumstances in which to show it.

It’s time for The Funnies.

Here comes the Daily Janey. Hold on, till I get my Janey board.

Today’s News In Brief.

Let’s finish with some music.

From the very first verse, I wondered what they would do when they reached the jump and lift.

This is interesting. 20-30 years ago I was a subscriber to the belief if you played a country music record backwards the singer would get his wife and kids back, his horse wouldn’t drown and his barn didn’t burn down in the ranch fire. THEN, along came New Country, and I found myself enjoying it more. Surprisingly, this song, shared by a pioneer of the new sound, kind of harks back to that original twangy ballad, but I still like it.

And finally, a beautiful sign of our times.

Thanks for reading.

Have a great weekend.

Stay safe x
